Position Title: Shift Supervisor
MOOR Coffee Company is a Ministry of Broadmoor Baptist Church. Therefore, employees of MOOR Coffee Company are to adhere to the policies set forth in the Employee Handbook of Broadmoor Baptist Church, including the addendum noting the specifics for the MOOR Coffee Company Employee Dress Code.
The overarching intent of MOOR Coffee Company is to engage guests for the purpose of sharing the Gospel. While the specifics of the job are listed below, it should be noted that first and foremost, the person that holds the position should be a Christ follower and have the desire to share the Gospel at every opportunity.
Job Summary:
The shift supervisor is responsible for assisting the store manager in maintaining a positive environment, which provides fast, efficient, and friendly service ensuring a Total Quality Experience for both our customers and team members. Shift supervisors assist in training, customer service, product knowledge and education, encouraging safe work practices and demonstrating a commitment to our Guiding Principles and House Rules. This team member directly supervises the barista positions and acts as the manager on duty in the absence of the store manager.
Store Operations:
- Maintains a clean, organized and stocked environment and, when necessary, assists in the distribution of product shipments.
- Performs all POS duties, front and back of house functions including opening and closing procedures, and coordinates with the Business Office as necessary.
- Establishes effective and positive communication among all team members.
- Assists store manager in maintaining proper team member coverage for the MOOR Coffee Company and event space schedules, ensuring the store maintains customer service standards and team members adherence to meal and break policies.
- Delegates duties, as necessary, to baristas.
- Performs financial documentation and register readings during shifts.
- Ensures all cash handling procedures are upheld.
- Is accountable for store funds while running a shift.
- Assists store manager in effectively and efficiently planning and executing all sales promotions.
- Provide guidance and actively sets an example for team members, ensuring all Standard Operating Procedures are maintained and followed.
- Follows and directs team members to follow store policies, procedures and adherence to merchandising and cleanliness standards.
- Promotes and practices safe work habits, reporting potential safety hazards, operational inconsistencies and team member incidents to the store manager.
- Reports/documents Team member accidents, conducts initial investigation and determination of root cause in the interest of maintaining a safe work environment.
- Responds to any and all emergencies while on shift by directing or performing steps necessary to ensure medical treatment and/or escape routes are available.
- Informs the store manager of any operational inconsistencies, employee incidents, accidents, potential safety hazards, or any unusual or pertinent events.
- Reports employee accidents and potential safety hazards to the store manager; completes appropriate paperwork, and recommends a proper course of action.
- Reports/documents customer accidents and conducts initial investigation and determination of root cause in the interest of maintaining a safe environment.
Service:
- Is the Role Model for outstanding service and “owner” of the service initiative at MOOR Coffee Company during his/her shift.
- Proactive in solving customer problems and ensuring customer satisfaction in various situations.
- Ensures all Team Members follow the Standard Operating Procedures lead by greeting and responding to all customers with fast, efficient, friendly and personalized service. Strives to develop a rapport with customers by learning their names, favorite drinks and food items.
- Responds proactively to prevent customer service situations. Investigates and resolves customer incidents, documenting if necessary.
- Consistently monitors, coaches and encourages team members to meet the Company’s service standards.
Product:
- Follows all Company drink recipes and procedures, maintaining the highest quality and consistent product standards.
- Tastes products on a per shift basis for quality assurance.
- Consistently maintains the highest quality product standards.
- Oversees drink making.
- Educates our customers on the superior quality of Company products and services.
- Prepares all drinks and ensures all team members prepare drinks according to MOOR Coffee Company drink recipe standard operating procedures.
Training & Development:
- Demonstrates the ability to lead, communicate and champion MOOR Coffee Company Best Practices.
- Provides coaching and training to baristas on performance expectations.
- Contributes information to the store manager on performance appraisals for team members he/she directly supervises.
- Motivates staff to maintain quality and consistent product.
Qualifications:
- Minimum high school diploma or equivalent. College degree preferred.
- Minimum one year of retail or six months of specialty coffee experience. Previous supervisory experience preferred.
- Basic computer skills required.
- Register and cash handling experience.
- Must be able to work overtime, including weekends, evenings and special events as needed.
- Well-organized, detail-oriented and able to multi-task.
- Must have effective problem-solving/decision-making abilities.
- This position will require frequent standing and use of hands and arms.
- Must be able to lift up to 30lbs and frequently bend and twist from the waist.
- Frequently required to use hand and finger motions, handle or feel objects and reach with hands and arms.
- Must be able to adjust vision to both day and night lighting and be able to focus on distant and close-range projects.
- Regularly required to handle food, hot beverages, and work with sharp objects.
- Must have excellent verbal and written English communication skills.
- Must have a working knowledge of social media platforms with the ability to post, comment and respond on behalf of MOOR Coffee Company.

Position Title: Barista

Job Summary:
The barista is responsible for serving all products with friendly, individualized attention towards each customer. He/she is also responsible for educating customers about our premium coffees and teas. The barista fulfills any other duties the store manager or shift supervisor assigns and represents MOOR Coffee Company in a professional manner.
Product:
- Ensures all customers are educated on our products and services.
- Maintains the highest quality, consistent product standards.
- Follows all Company drink recipes and procedures.
- Develops an understanding of coffee and tea regions and the various differences in flavor and blends.
- Educates him or herself on the various types of coffee, tea products, blends and roasts.
- Proficiently prepares blended and cold drinks provided by the store.
Service:
- Greets all customers with fast, friendly, personalized service and develops a rapport with customers by learning their names, favorite drinks and food items.
- Verbally receives and calls back customer orders in a friendly manner.
- Reports all customer complaints to the store manager or shift supervisor on duty.
- Responds proactively to prevent customer service situations.
- Accurately rings sales orders into cash register and counts back change to customers in a courteous and friendly manner.
- Answers telephone in a courteous and friendly manner including, but not limited to, giving store greeting and directions to store location.
- Answers customer questions regarding coffee blends, preparation, and product freshness.
- Weighs, grinds, and tamps coffee according to MOOR Coffee Company guidelines.
- Sells and serves baked goods and miscellaneous food items to customers.
- Maintains efficient, friendly service.
Environment:
- Restocks shelves when necessary.
- Routinely cleans the coffee prep area, coffee machines, bar area, condiment station, floor, windows, play area, grinders, takes out trash, etc.
- Assists in the distribution of weekly shipments.
- Reports potential safety hazards to the manager on duty.
- Reports all employee accidents to the manager on duty.
- Reports any operational inconsistencies to the manager on duty .
- Routinely checks bathrooms and reports any needs to Broadmoor housekeeping.
Requirements, Qualifications & Physical Demands:
- Entry level position.
- Entry level computer skills with the ability to learn and work a point of sale system.
- Runs errands, when needed, to pick up supplies and/or product.
- May work special events, as needed.
- Maintains positive Company morale and professional attitude.
- Must be able to work overtime, as needed.
- Excellent English verbal and written skills.
